There is a nationwide cybersecurity incident involving Canvas, our learning management platform. This is a global issue affecting thousands of schools and is not a direct breach of Henderson Collegiate’s internal systems.
The Bottom Line:
What happened: A criminal group accessed data from Canvas's parent company, Instructure.
What is safe: There is no evidence that passwords, Social Security numbers, or financial information were compromised.
What was involved: Public-facing info like student names, school emails, and internal Canvas messages may have been viewed.
Our Action: While our internal systems remain secure, we have suspended access to Canvas following guidance from the NC Department of Public Instruction until the platform is fully remediated and are closely monitoring accounts.
